There is in fact a little know compatibility issue between TenTec and
Butternut products. Due to the faster than usual QSK, the RF leaving the rig
tends to achieve higher velocity than inferior rigs. Butternut uses a
secret mixture of butter and aluminum which greatly increases the efficiency
of their antennas. The combination of high velocity RF and "slick skin
aluminum" results in the apparent power loss. Simply put; The wattmeter
cannot keep up with the power which results in a low reading. Actually, full
power is really produced but cannot be measured by ordinary means.
Negotiations are presently being carried out between the two corporate
giants. Rumors have it that a spin-off company called "Butt-Tec" will market
an adapter. Meanwhile, we recommend exercising patience and simply ignoring
the wattmeter. The alternative is to use a very long coax feeder. About 300'
of low quality RG-58 should tame that meter. 73
