Aluminium provides more than adequate shielding against
both magnetic and electric fields at shortwave frequencies.


I am not sure about the effectiveness of aluminium in shielding "magnetic" fields. It seems that a high mu metal is the way to go for magnetic shielding. That is what they used on CRTs to prevent magnetic interference.

But plastics do not, and Orion's CPU, DSP's, AD and DA converters,
front panel LEDs and keys are "shielded" by plastic only.

Certainly agree here.
