We calibrated our K55 radar with two tuning forks. You struck it on a soft surface such as the dash. One was 35 mph and the other was 80 mph. You also had to strike both at once and get the difference, 45 mph. The forks were checked for calibration every 6 months by the state police and everything, radar and forks had calibration certificates. In New Jersey you cannot attack the radar. It's case law. You could only attack the operator and his operation. There's a lot of training and re-training. There are a few things that can affect radar but you're trained to know what they are.
