Yes, I think the newer digital modes would be more accepted if all manufacturers did what Ten Tec did, build in the interface to the sound card for PSK 31 and related modes. The old packet hook ups with tedious configuration of sw in the computer and dip switches or menus in a TNC, detract from any pleasure at using the mode, plus its dismal speed on HF detracts from any utility of the digital approach. A few radios have come out with built in TNC. With more SDR concepts reaching radio design, there should be possible an interface provision for most any mode and a plug and play approach.
