the A vfo will only tune the ham bands ( bye the way to get 60 meters, push  
in the 0 button on the keypad) 
 
 But the B vfo will go to .100.100 ( 100 kc's?) well below the AM  broadcast 
band.  
 
just press in the button  ANT 1 SUB RX   upper left under  the TT orion logo) 
then turn up the volume on the sub af knob. 
 
 for listening to the swl bands, you can set the step to 5 kc's and  tune 
them ( world wide broadcasts, like radio Taiwan)  like channels. 
 
remember to switch modes you need to push the SUB rx button( in between the  
vfos).  
 
and you can listen in AM mode or select USB or LSB  to get rid of the  hash, 
the orion is stable enough to do that.  hope this helps
