It is unclear to me that the same binaries will run on O II as on O I. The
inner workings of the control system aren't identical. Possibly the same
source code handles both rigs, which can be compiled for either target.

Even if they are clever enough to have a binary that auto-senses which rig
it's running in, the difference will be in the testing. Having zero-bug code
for the O II does not guarantee zero bugs for the O I. The O I is a
different machine, with much less CPU power, and that makes bugs more likely
to show up.
