Generally...and this is a big one....your local noise level will be a
great control factor in your six meter success.  If you have a good power
company which repairs the lines, you got it made with even a "halo"
type antenna.  Generally, however, the directional character of a beam--
at least a three element--will help you a bunch on receive.  When the band
is open....anything works....but a directional antenna up in the clear
will work a LOT better.
