Grant,
Apologize in advance if this is a redundant answer, been on the road a
lot the past week and a half and didn't have time to get through all my
inbox yet, but wanted to make sure you got some feedback.
My ORION is currently running Version 1.372. I ran the test exactly per
your script and in the "AM" mode. Varying the TX Filter BW produces a
very significant and distinct change to the audio response, throughout
the range of control, as heard through the monitor. I used a good
quality headset Sony (MDR-7506) as well as a lower quality for this test
and changes to TX BW still produced a very distinct and significant
change to monitor audio in either headset.
Hope this data provides you with the benchmark expected.
Cheers - Steve W5JK

Subject: [TenTec] Request for check of Orion 1.3xx Behavior
I posted this last night, but didn't get any takers. Maybe everyone is
already on 2.054B? I'm going to waste the bandwidth to try again.
Would someone with an Orion still on 1.3xx firmware try the following
and
let me know the result.
1. Antenna to dummy load (of course)
2. Mode to AM
3. Turn on MON and plug in some headphones
4. Key down, and while talking to yourself in the mic and listening on
MON,
vary the TX Filter BW (on the SSB Menu) through its range (900-3900Hz)
What I want to know is if varying the TX Filter BW changes the audio
response as you hear it in the monitor.
Simple :-)
Thanks ... Grant/NQ5T
