Regarding why 2 filters with nearly identical
response:  The bandwidth controls are set up with
several discrete bandwidth buttons and 2 variable
positions.  The variable positions allow both the
upper and lower bandwidth to be independently adjusted
in 10hz steps.  The smallest "bandwidth" therefore is
10hz, the point where the upper limit and the lower
limit converge.

In my listening experience there isn't much difference
between 50hz 25hz and 10hz in terms of performance. 
There is a very slight increase in sharpness.  There
is a clear difference between 100hz and 50hz, and a
dramatic difference between 250hz and 100hz.
