[TenTec] Orion 2 voice recorder still broke

well after I did a master reset and a ram clear, I recorded a message and it 
seemed to work OK.

then I tried to put in the messages I wanted,  it won't record unless I have 
the SP turned on and then when I try to record It's like the monitor is on and 
I get a bunch of feedback that comes out of the speaker..

can anyone check this out to see if it is a software prob.  or if it operator 
error on this end
