WA3MKB,
Nice post and but I have to disagree with you on one point. You state that
the amateur radio operators who failed to write the FCC unintentionally
allowed the removal of the requirement of Morse Code from all license class
examinations is inaccurate. The truth of the matter is the FCC had an agenda
and no matter if 99% of operators expressed their opinion of retaining the
Morse Code requirement it would not have mattered. Look at the route other
countries throughout the world have gone. One does not have to look past
Washington to see the lack of leadership in these matters. Case in
point-BPL.
Also it is my opinion, and please note the word opinion, that within 20
years there will be no examinations whatsoever. Just pay your 20 dollars
with your completed application. If these guys can push through no code then
it makes everything else much easier. Just look at the VEC examinations and
how much of a joke they are. A person can memorize the answers in 3 weeks
and pass the Extra test with flying colors. I know people who have done it
but that will also be a bygone era.
