John,

Thank you for the suggestion. I just recently spoke with John at Ten Tec regarding problems with the main encoder for my Omni VI+. So I ordered one and still have to get it installed before CQWW 160. My Omni VI+ is a late serial number radio, but I seem to be going through kind of a bad spell with it. My Omni V lasted me 13 years without a hitch before I traded up to the VI+. One of the reasons I went for the VI+ was the front panel axillary switch!

Best Regards, Thomas

The axillary antenna function worked a few years ago when I last used it with a small loop antenna, but since then something has changed. I am trying to get all this working before CQWW160 in a couple of weeks, so I don't have time to send it back to the factory for repair. Has anyone else has a problem like this?

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thomas,

I had some problems with my Aux antenna circuit, but it was that the signals from the main antenna leaked through as I recall. Anyway, the fix is to change all those diodes. The factory has some new tougher ones--call Don Prouty and get him to send you a pack with a few instruction notes. Also, he can most likely fine tune your fix on the phone. I'm not at all technical, but I did change them out in about an hour. I'm sure a tech could do it in 10 minutes!
