RIT seems fine. This happens when the RIT is off. I use the RIT to make up for the tracking error. I set it up 50Hz and everything is fine. Its not really a problem, but I sure would like to know how it is doing this. Could be a voltage varying, but I don't think so. I'll let everyone know if and when I find the problem.

Might sound silly and it's been a long time since I have had a OMNI VI (darn it!!!) but is your RIT system ok?, good luck, Mac

Ken

Its about 50Hz off on SSB. Seems like a strange problem because, like you
said, they use the same oscillators. The receiver is high. Not sure what to
look at. Rig seems to perform fine in all other respects. Don't want to
adjust anything without knowing what is happening.

Hi Art,

If you are talking about in SSB mode, in theory it cannot be wrong,
because all of the oscillators in use for TX are the same and have the
same logical commands applied to them when in RX mode. On the other
hand, when in CW mode the BFO is switched between 9.000000 MHz for
receive (same as LSB receive BFO Frequency) and 9.000400 MHz for
transmit, and the VFO gets different numbers loaded into it, depending
on the sidetone setting you have selected. The most likely cause of a
discrepancy between TX and RX frequency would be misalignment of the
trimmers in the BFO, which is on the TX AUDIO BOARD.

I have an Omni VI that works real well, but seems not to be tracking the exmit and rec frequency correctly with my RIT off. I seem to have about a
fifty Hz difference. I am using the RIT to correct the problem, but I
wonder if there is a simple adjustment I can make.
