That's fine, as long as all you want is 12 volts. As I explained in my
first post, my goal was to power all kinds of stuff, lights and things, from
my emergency supply. A 12 volt DC booster does not forward that goal.

They do work however, if all you want is 12 volts.

one thought is to run it on 12 volts and then for lights and such, use 12
volt stuff too. this way you don't have all the losses in conversion from 12
to
120 etc.

if you go to any RV or camping store they have literally any thing you need
in a 12 voly form for RV's.

in the shack I have the packet, and on 2m rig always on 12 v backup power,
and it only takes a minute to "back feed " the 12 position rig runner to feed
any thing else. I even have my old 5 inch 12 v B&W tv so I can watch the
tube, and a couple of 12 v florescent lamps will handle lighting .

so here is my setup, as I said before I run a power mater into the three 33
AH batteries for the packet and the little tv.

I have 2 small panels outside charging a pair of 90 AH batteries for the 2 m
rig and this can be back fed to run the scout or corsair or triton IV. in
the garage I have a 5500 watt generator, this will run the fridge, and heater
etc., and still to be installed is a pair of 85 watt solar panels to go to a
large battery bank. I also have a small panel on a 12 volt deep cycle in
the garage with a small inverter on it, to run the garage door opener if
needed.

most of the black outs here are only an hour or so and the "packet"
batteries and the small solar setup outside is enough to get through, the rest
is
used for longer outages, I also have an 80 am marine charger that I can run
on
the generator to put a quick garage into batteries when using for the fridge
and heater.

hope this helps
