After five hours of calling the BS7 I have given up on V2.060b and gone back to
V1.373b5. The click on the CW sidetone just wears you out after a few hours of
sending CW. There still seems to be "gain distribution" issues with this
release and a lot of gain is gone out of the system - making it hard to get
enough audio and still keep sound peeks from overdriving the audio. Gain and
AGC just don't seem to work together correctly. When you listen to V1.373b5 you
really appreciate how well the Orion can really perform with high performance
firmware. The screen doesn't look as good and no stacking register indicators
but the line out audio is very good as well as the headphone audio and the CW
sidetone. And all of the radio performance is great - with an occasional
failure :-(
