No mod needed. Just remove the "ham" plug on the logic board for all
freq coverage.

Only if your input level is higher than line level. Also, a good
idea to avoid
ground loops (hum) is to use a small 1/1 or 600 ohm/600 ohm audio xfmr between
the sound card and the rig.

The rear connectors are less messy than trying to rig a mike/sound card switch
or having to change mike plugs when going to voice modes.
Much more straightforward, too.
