I also have an Omni vii...after calling TT's tech support to affirm that chassis is common to power supply negative ground I made my own power connectors...just simple spade lugs...typical for automotive connectors. The one for the B+ to the rig I reversed the lug..the ring is soldered to the positive line (no 12 stranded wire) and I opened up the part that normally is crimped or soldered to the wire slightly to click on the Omni's B+ male stud. I now have a better dc and higher current capability with lower voltage drop than oem. I have used my rig for several months with that little mod...no drift and no power drop on extended psk or other heavy duty operation.
Power supply is an Astron 35m.

Suggest checking the DC voltage as it enters the rig (on the plug) for low
voltage or voltage drop on XMIT.

Simple to check and simple to fix with larger wire. Should be almost no drop
of voltage at all.

The Omni VII and Orion I and II are computers in a box with knobs and
buttons on the front.

They both get very unhappy about low voltage or voltage drop as do all
CPU's.

Good luck and 73,

My new Omni VII has been on the desk for about 2 weeks. It gets used
several hours per day. I find that it is solid as a rock, both frequency
and power. I've not found the first problem, glitch or issue with the
radio. The power supply is an Astron SS-30M.

Has anyone heard about power level changing and frequency stability
problems with this rig? A friend (W5CSU) is having such problems from
his
NEW Omni VII after one month.
