An alternate method of blowing up the bias board it to put exciter power
to the 425 with no load on the output, even with the 425 in standby or
not even powered up. The easiest way to do this is to use a separate
receive antenna on your Omni VI, so that when your transmit antenna
switch is set to an unused port, you don't notice right away, because
the receiver sounds fine. With no load on the output of the 425, there
is nowhere for the exciter power to go except the small parts on the
bias board. I know this works, I have tried it.

In the past, I did have a problem with the bias
control board which burned itself up, most likely due to a lightning strike
or some other event. I simply replaced the whole board with a new one from
TT ($61.88 according to my notes) and that fixed the problem.
