Well for $30 you can get a foot pedal from MFJ.  

And to me if the switch keeps breaking, why keep replacing it... Just eliminate 
the problem...  Just out of curiosity how long are the switches lasting?

Yes but why? Shouldn't the PTT switch on the 706 be adequate?
