The Keyspan adaptors are well supported in most modern OSes.

In general any adaptor that uses the Prolific USB to serial chipset  
(i.e. Prolific Technology's PL-2303H/X/HX) will use the drivers in  
Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and Windows. Other chipsets (often in the cheaper  
parts) require the manufacturer to provide drivers.
