You probably have not missed a thing, depending on how you operate. That's
why I suggested a second main rx as an option for those who see a need for
it. In a really crushing pileup with a narrow time window of
opportunity--such as the Andamans on 160m cw--it is vital to find where the
station is listening and to find it quickly. In a pileup like that, when
there is so much RF in the air that trees are turning brown, the current
subreceiver degrades dramatically when you open up the bandwidth to try to
sniff out where the 599 exchange is. It may be close to where you are
listening and it may be 2-3-5kHz away. The subrx does not do well in a
major pileup with the BW cranked out. Based on the subrx design and specs
you would not expect it to be able to handle such a situation
gracefully--and with such a pileup it doesn't. It does as well as lower
priced rigs but it doesn't come close to the main rx performance. In my
case I am willing to pay for the second RX. Others may find a full blown
second rx not to be worth the $$$.

receiver as good as the Main. I like the Sub the way it is with general
coverage.
The O's helped me to 298 DX contacts in those 4 years. I've never had need
for the quality of the Sub as the Main.
Yes, I do listen up to try and find where the DX station is listening and
never regretted the Sub's inferior reception.
What did I miss over these 4 years?
A lot of us use the O2 in contests, always listening to both receivers.
Running stations with one vfo and searching for stuff on the second, always
listening to both and allowing the contest program to quickly switch the
Xmit. For
that operation, the O2 sub-rx is sorely lacking and that becomes real
evident real quickly, especially on the low bands.
