First order of business with any flaky Omni V behavior is to clean the 
DC power connectors on and to the rig.

Gunk or oxidation on this connector will do things you never would 
attribute to a dirty power connector, but then you would often be wrong. 
Deoxit from Radio Shack and pipe cleaners...you'll be amazed what comes 
off of a fairly clean looking connector.

After that, dirty or intermittent connectors in the rig are the next 
potential culprit. I'd start with the logic board. Takes an hour to 
clean all of the connectors in the radio and it is probably a good idea 
to do so every 15 years even if you're not having a blatant problem.

Others may have additional suggestions.
