Dennis:

The Corsair is probably a better deal if you want to work the 18 MHz band. The Omni D will supposedly work on 18 MHz with the addition of the proper crystal, but the mixing scheme causes it to put out a spurious signal.

The Corsair has a very quiet receiver. Its only disadvantage is that the audio-derived AGC can pop on strong signals. The solution is to turn off the receive preamp and/or back off the RF gain.

Older Ten-Tecs may need PTO servicing due to dried out grease, but this is not a difficult project and Ten-Tec sells a rebuild kit.

I have held a ham ticket from 1961 but never owned a piece of Ten Tec

looking at some of the Omni D or Corsair models to purchase and play with. I
buy transceivers
for the receiver performance and like anything else opinion varies from Ham to

about any of those Ten Tec transceiver of that late 70's early 80's era and
what to look for or
avoid.

I have a Cubic Astro 103 for sale or trade if someone is interested.
