I was able to measure a difference or period of time between the external keying line going low and the RF output of the transceiver. From external key closure to RF, my Omni VII measures 12 ms. From amp keyline out to RF measures 8 ms. That's enough time for most any QSK amp. My QSK time and Ext. T/R line are always set at 0 for both parameters. As to RF sensed amps, I suppose they work quite well on SSB. However, for CW the delay seems would be reason or cause for concern. Since they sense hot-switching and can compensate for such, they are a delight to use on both CW and SSB. Paul, W9AC |
