OK, I "have" to chime in.
In 2006 QST did a comparison of various auto-tuners, including efficiency
ratings. The Palstar Auto Tuner was one of them and I expected its more
"traditional" design to yield the best results.
To my surprise, especially in terms of efficiency, it did not when compared
with the the LDG, MFJ or the Ten Tec 253.
George...I am not presuming to trump your knowledge, personal or
professional. I run a managed care organization; I'm not an RF engineer. I
am wondering if you've read that review though and have any thoughts on its
findings.

Subject: Re: [TenTec] Antenna Tuners...questions
This is a simple answer....get the Palstar auto
tuner...nothing else needs to be said

PS If the solid state amp is the Ameritron, I use same
setup...O2 to AlS-600 to Palstar Auto

Hi,
I've been considering a new antenna tuner for a new
QTH. I've been considering the Ten Tec 238B,
Palstar AT1500DT, and an XMatch (N4XM). This will
be used in conjunction with a solid state 600W amp
following my Orion 2. My present tuner is a home
made unit that is for a balanced feedline system and
at my new QTH, I won't have that luxury.
If you have any comments, suggestions or
recommendations, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks.
