Yes, Kenwood and Yaesu rigs can be tough to get serviced.? I got rid of my 
backup Kenwood TS570 because it needed repair.? The parts had to be obtained 
from off shore.? The service people couldn't be reached.? Customer service 
wasn't good.

Think twice about Kenwood.
