What is the difference between putting a remote antenna tuner at the feed point of the antenna verses at the end of the feed line like most hams have for their installation?
Keep The Faith, Jim K9TF/WA9YSD

When properly adjusted, the tuner at the antenna feedpoint results in a 1:1 swr ratio on the feedline thereby eliminating whatever line loss would have been suffered depending on what the swr happened to be. With the tuner at the rig end, the loss in the feedline is proportional to the swr on the line. With a swr of 1:1 loss from that source is eliminated. Of course, a loss still exists on the line dependent on the inherent loss of the line and that is, in most practical real world installations, much lower than loss due to high swr ratios.
