I have both - My Corsair II with remote VFO for true Dual Receive AND an OMNI VI +! I have a DOW Key Relay with auxiliary three pole double throw contacts which are used to switch TX EN and TX OUT from either rig thru the TITAN 425. It lets me quickly change rigs driving the AMP and antennas which are fed through the TT Auto Ant Coupler.

I prefer to use the Corsair II for working DX when there's a pile-up as the dual RX is hard to beat. With the narrow filters in the first IF the OMNI is better for very weak DX when the pile is strong and UP 2!

If you are only a casual operator as you say, then the nice sound,
simplicity, and old style feel of the Corsair may be for you.

In a contest, you want the new rigs with the tight front ends, hands down.

So - it all depends.

OK, now I'm REALLY up in the air.

I've loved my Corsair II / Remote VFO for the years I've used it.

I recently acquired an Omni VI, and it's at Ten-Tec right now getting
"like
new".

My plan (for casual CW and SSB operation, paired with my 425 Titan from
time
to time) was to sell the former and keep the latter, but everyone on the
list seems to prefer the Corsair!

... so I'm really wondering: how much of that is nostalgia / camp /
attitude
(no disrespect intended ... that's why I run boatanchors) and how much is
based on true operating performance / convenience?

I guess I could run them side-by-side and make my own judgement, but space
and time make that improbable. Besides, I'd like to learn from the
experience of others.
