I have just added code to my Orion program that can fake out a K3 interface
so the N8LP's panadaptor can work with an Orion using my N4PY software.

The real time scope TT is (was?) working on uses new hardware. It
wasn't a software upgrade. I once asked if a software change could
be made so that the 30 kHz sweep could be made to run at 10 times the
speed of the 300 kHz sweep and the answer was no, because of
limitations in the speed of the screen display. If the 30 kHz scope
could be made to run at the higher speed, it would appear as a
continuous update and appear very much to be real time, just like the
ProIII. I find it hard to believe that the screen display would hog
that much cpu time. I think that it was too low on the programming
priority list and that made the cpu speed a good excuse to kill the idea.

The problem with a real time scope is it requires more than just a
firmware upgrade, the Flex 5000 and the Icom 756 radios have a reall
time scope because they have a deticated DSP just for the scope, even
the Orion II has two DSP procesors BUT does not have a reall time
scope! If you research the company that builds the LP100 digital meter
he now sells a REAL TIME scope (Panadapter) for the Elecraft K3. I
asked him about added this "Black Box" to a Omni VII and he said the
1st IF stage was to high frequency to do it. If Ten Tec was to have a
real time scope it would involve allot more than just a firmware re-
write!
