The hardware mod is not needed to try/use version 2 firmware. The sweep
will not work though without the hardware mod.
If the hardware mod is done it does not have to be undone to be able to
go back to the version 1 firmware.
So, there's really no reason NOT to give the version 2 firmware a try
and do the hardware mod. You never know, you may even like version 2!
