The stuff I got in a ladies sewing store was called garter string or thread and it stretcher and worked really well. You only need it on the end like a spring!

Wally,
Can you post the name of the item at Wal-Mart? I'm betting it's not called
"elastic dial string" <g>
Thanks and 73

First I want to thank all the replies on how to redo the dial string. By the
way Wal-Mart has the elastic dial string. One dollar for 5 yards.

My next problem is putting the case back together. Does anyone have pictures
of the unit being put back together or being taken apart? If I knew it was
going to be two years before I had to do this I would have taken pictures of
every step.

I will have one more question when I have all my data to present. It has to
do with alignment.

73 and thanks in advance.

Wally
