In the past (25 years ago), when I was running a Ten Tec RF processor with
my Ten Tec 544, if the signals are strong, the other guy couldn't tell much
difference either, but, on weak or DX stations, it made all the difference
between readable and non-readable. In fact, I remember a QSO I had with a
mobile down in VK-land. Without the processor he could barely hear me in
there and could not copy a word I was saying, but with the processor, he
could clearly hear me and we QSO'd for 45 minutes on an almost dead 10 meter
band. We did many A-B tests, and always the same result. I am sure the new
Ten Tec RF Processor will do the same thing...it sure is tempting!

One thing I found out this week on a QSO...The OII SP set on 7? vs off...the
ham on the other end didn't see much difference. So, I hope the 715 might
work better. (yes running the latest firmware)

I would like to hear from anyone using the new 715 RF Speech Processor
with an Orion 2. There is already a speech processor in the Orion 2.
I asked TT if the 715 RF Speech Processor would be a significant
improvement over the built in Orion 2 processor. I was advised
affirmative but do not use both at the same time (the internal Orion 2
speech processor and the 715). That makes sense, using both would not
be twice as good and would indeed probably cause distortion.

The 715 sounds like a winner for TT and they are advertising heavily.
I sure would like to help the economy!
