Not only that, but an SSB contester might never care to listen to a signal
any wider than 1.8 kHz and put such a filter in the wide position on
purpose, as I have done. I don't care a darn about "lows" in SSB signals I
receive, and in fact filter them out anyway, in post-IF filters. This gives
me better selectivity, and an enhanced ability to understand the speech, in
a hostile audio environment. If I want nice audio, I go in the living room
and listen to my stereo (grin).
