The "hard" noise filter is actually a hardware noise blanker as opposed to
the DSP noise filter. It is designed for spark type noise.

I find setting the hard noise filter makes a big difference with my 
Orion 2.  You have to hold in the NR button until the filter logo 
appears.  Takes a lot of noise out of 20 and 40 meters SSB.

I find the NR of the ORION II poor. To my ear the noise of the Orion II

is very aggressiv and the NR ist unusable while not doing much to

I am setting AGC and RFGain. I must reduce the RF-Gain to "60", while
