Hello!
Two recent successes:
1- A while back, with help from the list, I fixed a display problem by
"exercising" the wire/cable connectors inside the OMNI VI. But then, months
later, the problem returned. I repeated the cleaning operation and things got
worse! Further examination with a magnifier revealed that the problem was
cracked solder joints on the pins for connector #90 (LED display driver board).
Wallah! but... once the rig was back together and all cabled up, the A, B,
Split, & VOX LEDs are intermittent (as a group)... more looking/soldering to do
I suspect.
2- I use Winlog 32 for logging and have the computer hooked up to the OMNI VI.
The Omni VI manual says to try the Icom 735 setting if the Omni VI isn't
listed in the software. Well, long story short, I had problems with the
decimal point in the frequency. 7.050 on the radio would come out in the
computer as .07050. I tried everything I could think of. Finally I tried
selecting the Icom 736 in the Winlog settings, not the 735. Again, wallah! It
works.
For what it's worth... two success stories :-)
