Just because you and I are interested in the subject doesn't mean it is an
appropriate subject for the TenTec reflector. There are people on this
reflector that are not interested in this subject. They shouldn't have to
hit the "delete" key because some folks don't want to subscribe to the
appropriate reflector and discuss SWR there.

Over the years I've read some very interesting posts, on the TowerTalk
reflector, concerning different types of antennas, transmission lines and
matching networks, in addition to the towers that support them.

You took my response wrong. I am very interested. I have an ORION ll driving
a Ten Tec amp into a 43 foot Zerofive vertical. But beyond that, antennas
are very complex to analyze, model and, in fact, understand. I am an
engineer, you can Google me, although I did graduate several years ago. And
to top it off, I spent 45 years in the world of Digital Data Communications.
But I have been a ham since 1951, and have put up most every kind of
antenna. I do know one thing, antennas follow sound theory not witch craft
or voodoo electronics.
I just wish that if you are an expert...contribute! If you are not, and have
an opinion, so state it is an opinion.

George,

If someone is not at all interested, that's ok. They can delete without
reading.

If someone is interested but doesn't understand all of this, Phil, AD5X has
a PowerPoint presentation on his web site which explains a lot of this in a
simple way, using drawings and simple examples.

Remember, this thread originated from an OM with a TenTec transceiver and a
TenTec amp and a problem feeding his 43 ft. vertical antenna.
As Jerry said, we all use antennas.
Most of us are forced to use verticals, due to space limitations.
Therefore I think this is the correct venure for this type of discussion.

This discussion needs to be in a venue where people understand antennas.

My point entirely. I suggested the AV-6110 in jest (where I should have
marked it with ;<)_)but its a real solution for those long in pocket and
short on building.
