I take it you cannot solder a new lead on it?  Is it broken in a place 
where it would be impossible for this?  (Not criticizing... a sincere 
question from one learning to solder stuff - I am making every receiver 
kit TT makes, and also other kits, trying to learn to build or repair my 
own stuff...)
(Thinking... "Six Million Dollar Man" ...  "We can rebuild him..."  :-)
