I will defer to others better informed to answer your questions 1. to
3., but I think the price factor is closer than one might at first think.

The K3-10 is $1500 and filter is $130... a total of $1630.

The Eagle is $1800 (and does 100 watts.)
Mr. DH -- Just thinking out loud...

I bet you will get end up ordering at least one or two more accessories
for a K3-10 along the way, and you will end up within $100 of the cost
of the Eagle.

Thus, I figure they two rigs are pretty close in price, really. The
new Kenwood TS-590 is about the same money, give or take $150 or so...

I consider these radios are all very close in final price - and, of
course your threshold for economic pain may vary from mine - but I do
not think a guy with as nice a shack as yours will decide the purchase
of a new radio over a difference of $100 (+/-). I think price
between these choices is a non -issue. (That does not make your
decision any easier, does it ?) ;-)

Gee... the market is really getting crowded with choices... and in a
failing economy... at a time when most guys figured (guessed) Kenwood
was quitting the business... and when other guys figured TT was
stagnant...

Gee... I love it. I love a parade !

Happy Trails.
