If the price is right, and you check it out, top to bottom....I'd grab it.
Remember.....don't think like..."When it breaks, I'm screwed" because while it might break....the chances
are better that you will get many years of trouble-free enjoyment out of it.

My apologies Neal for beating the dead horse so to speak.... Please don't hate yourself for asking.

The reason I was asking was because a local ham offered me a loaded O IV+ at bargain price because of reason #4 (he needed money). I initially was interested in buying and heard the rumblings months back about rigs coming back from TT unrepaired because they had logic bd issues.

I passed on the deal for reason #2 (news of maint shortcomings)

Been thinking about it and wondering if I did the right thing. Still think most semi's on my Omni V are still obtainable. I could get a processor from N4PY if I wanted to upgrade and have a spare.

Anyway I'll leave the dead horse to his dirt nap........

73 and thanks for the input,

George

Hello George,

Well - you're a bit late to the discussion, and I think it's pretty much
a dead horse. But to summarize:

Ten Tec would have a difficult time fixing a logic board if there were
serious problems. This is because more than just a couple of the parts
are not made anymore, or they cannot find a reliable source. That's
what Ten-Tec saids.

Why are there more than one or two for sale? Who knows, but opinions
are:

1) Coincidence;
2) The news about maintenance shortcomings;
3) Ops are ready to get a Eagle, Jupiter, or Orion;
4) Money is tight these days.

#4 did not come up in the discussion but I think it belongs on the
list. Your guess is as good as anyones. I thin most on this list that
have one (me included) are not to worries about any of it. Someone else
can have a go at it, but I think everyone is tired of this discussion,
so it's not your fault if no one else gives you a reply.

I'm going to hate myself for asking, but why are *you* asking?

Still running an Omni V here and I love it. Any truth to the rumors
Ive heard about parts particularly the processor being obsolete and
unavailable from Ten Tec for the Omni VI rigs? Could this be way folks
may be selling them? 73, George

What is a Omni VI+ worth in a trade for an Eagle?

Tom, in my case I traded my Omni VI+ (which I loved), matching
speaker-p/s and 238 tuner in toward the purchase of a new Eagle.
I also reclaimed a lot of real estate on my operating desk.
