Barry,
When you say "all four" digits, I presume you mean the 100kHz, 10kHz,
1kHz and 100Hz digit positions? They are driven by a multiplex
arrangement where the same segment in all digit positions is fed by the
same signal line. I would look for poor contacts as the most likely problem.
The 10MHz and 1MHz positions are also multiplexed, but separately from
the other positions. I presume not all 6 positions are showing the same
segment error? If they are, it's a very odd fault!
