Thank you Paul. I tend to think they probably do monitor this list. They
probably just don't make that known publicly.

After surviving more than forty years in some of the best and worst economic

times, I'm certain that TT knows the importance of monitoring the marketing
environment, and that includes mail lists.

Hi Paul,
If you will reread my email, I didn't say anything about TenTec having
to respond to individuals on this list. I just ask if they read this
list.
If I was TenTec, I would have my management team keeping a close eye on
what
the customers were saying. If they manage productivity and never listen to
their customers, guess what - soon they will not have any customers!
Successful companies are customer driven. They either take care of their
customers or someone else will. Elecraft created their own list because
they are a customer driven company. I don't suggest TenTec has to create
their own list but, they should at least have someone at their company
keeping an eye on the lists to know what the customer thinks and wants.

What would TenTec recommend to the customer who sends in a Corsair II?
"Sorry buddy, you're SOL!" At least they could say, "We no longer
support
that part of the radio. Take a look at the TenTec list. They may be
able
to help you."

I would rather receive that correspondence direct from the company, and
not
through a mail list. The creation of a mail list among private
individuals
does not invoke a duty on the manufacturer to monitor and respond to tens
or

hundreds of messages being broadcast on a given day.

If I owned a manufacturing company, I would rather have my management team
managing company productivity rather than monitoring lists all day long.
As

a customer, I would rather have the management team managing company
productivity rather than monitoring lists all day long.

Some products and vendors have several mail lists. Some are hosted by
contesting.com, some are on Yahoo, some are on other mail hosting
services.
I'm not sure where this notion evolved that company representatives must
respond to mail list messages. If you have a question or concern, simply
contact the company. In the case of TT, you'll get an immediate response.
