Carl, doesn't the CORSAIR-II and its TT predecessors run audio derived AGC
of the RF circuits with best sensitivity produced with lower RF gain
settings? The OMNI-VII which is subject to overloading by strong signals at
higher RF Gain settings works extremely well when run with the minimum RF
Gain required to produce the required audio output. I've spent most of my
time DXing trying to pull S0 to S2 signals out of the noise of a near-by
S9+40 pile up.

As in racing, you operate what you are using, not the specifications.....

You realize when you do this you are essentially turning AGC off and
running manual AGC. That's the way we ran the old radios in the 50's
and the way I used to run my Collins 75A1. I like to think the new
radios have much better AGC and this is no longer necessary.
