So for amps without the loop, they receive a signal to key their T/R relay
about 15ms before RF comes, and it is assumed that is long enough. For most
modern amps, it is, but NOT all.
In addition, the Orion and Omni7 can both add [what I call] "post-dit delay",
which keeps the Amp's internal T/R relay keyed a tiny bit longer (adjustable in
a software menu).

Pleas e excuse my ignorance. I have used both methods of keying, but have never
run a TenTec rig without the amp keying the transmitter. I understand that my
xcvr will key the amp & that there needs to be a delay before the transmitter
is keyed.
What I'm missing is 'What keys my Omni VII or Orion II?'
On theOrion II TX menu, I could turn the Keying Loop off, but then I don't
know where I would get any delay. The EXT TR delay will just hold the amp on so
there is no true QSK.
I shouldn't be confused, but I am. Sometimes I think the old gray matter is
turning a different color.
Thanks,
Dave

I haven't used it with a Ten Tec rig, but I see no reason why it would not do
full QSK. It's designed to work with any transceiver, not only Elecraft rigs.
It does NOT use the closed loop method. All you have to do is put the amp in TX
mode (by activating the PTT line) and the T/R switching will follow keying.
