A series diode rated at the forward current of the supply {20 A or 30A @ 50PRV} inserted in the pos side of the supply output to the battery is all that's needed. Then adjust the voltage to account for the 0.7 volt drop across the diode. Power all equipment after the diode or across the battery.

The diode prevents the battery from flowing back into the supply when the power fails or the supply is turned off.

Hi Jim.
I noticed at the end of your post you mentioned about one of your neighbors purchased a battery charging option for the linear supplies that can be added to keep from blowing the output regulator. Where is that available from. I don't have an Astron Catalog and was wondering if it is from an aftermarket source or from Astron?
