Dick,
I'd go for a VERTICAL and use the pool structure for radials. A light
Aluminum "Flag pole" (if need be) does not weigh much.
Of course, if you can do the flag pole then you could use that to hold the
dipole up higher.
Yes, the Al will distort the radiation pattern of the dipole and change the
impedence but what with the TT Tuner that can be handled. With the linear
folks can get an RF tan instead of those dangerous sun rays!

Do any members of the group have experience with erecting a random length
dipole about 5 feet over a swimming pool enclosure made of a grounded
aluminum structure and fiberglass netting? (Enclosure is about 15 feet
high at its peak and the antenna will be about 5 feet over this.)
I am wondering how the grounded aluminum frame will affect the radiation
(and loading) characteristics of the antenna.
I will be feeding the antenna with a Ten Tec Omni 6+, a Titan Linear and a
TT 238 tuner via RG-213 cable.
Any insights, guidance and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
