This does not sound normal.  The product detector directly feeds the notch
filter.  My guess is that you either have a bad xtal filter or your rig
needs an alignment.

I've looked at the rx audio spectrum of many Corsairs and have never seen a
peak like that.

Thanks for the advice...I'll certainly take a look.  It's not a big
problem and I'm not sure when it first showed up.  I've had the rig from
new -  1988 - si it could probably do with a full check=up!
