*Two hams in Boulder are causing havoc with their FTdx-5000 and FTdx-3000 due to transmitted phase noise, even from one band to another (15 meters to 20 meters). A 706MkIIG was about 20 dB better than the expensive Yaesu products. Several hams at the Boulder club are going to get more specific data, but the problem with the Yaesu rigs exist with just the rig keyed and the mic gain at zero. (i.e. no power output except the transmitted phase noise.) *

*I certainly agree that 48 volts finals should be the norm today, even as new rigs come on the market at 13.8 volts that will never be run mobile. *
