Bry,

As several have already said, the INRAD filter is only necessary if you are
heavily into CW contesting.
Otherwise you will never know the difference whether it is in or out.

Here is how you get the info:
.. Go to the Inrad home page: http://www.inrad.net/home.php
.. Click on "Products by radio" in the top left (Categories)
 .. Click on Ten-Tec
 .. Click on Omni V, Vi & VI+
.. THIS is the OMNI VI page

Shortcut: http://www.inrad.net/home.php?cat=90

IT IS EASY TO GET CONFUSED ON THIS PAGE.

Across the top you will see 7 different filters (they differ by bandwidth).
IMPORTANT: THESE ARE *NOT* THE ROOFING FILTERS; THESE ARE JUST NORMAL
FILTERS WHICH MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR THE STOCK TEN-TEC FILTERS!

Now in the box outlined in light blue, you can find links to descriptions of
all of the filters, including the roofing filters.

BEFORE YOU START, CLICK ON "Omni VI Roofing Filter Mod" AND READ THIS PAGE.
DOWNLOAD THE PDF AND STUDY IT.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE PERFORMING THIS MOD.
***THIS IS NOT A PLUG-N-PLAY MOD***
This mod consists of the little printed circuit board AND your choice of
Roofing Filter.

On this page they offer the choice between 3 roofing filters:
.. #764 2.4 kHz SSB filter
.. #763 600 Hz CW filter (normal pitch, centered on 750 Hz)
.. #765 500 Hz CW filter (centered on either 9000.5 or 9000.6 kHz)

NOTE THAT THESE "ROOFING FILTERS" are only 4-pole filters.
THIS IS ENOUGH AND YOU DO NOT WANT MORE POLES;
otherwise you will have too much insertion loss.

I cannot choose a roofing filter for you.
That will depend on how you like to copy CW.
I suggest you read all of the info on that page including "A few words about
Roofing Filters" download.

I have not personally installed this mod.
There are several people in the group who have.
AFTER you have studied the stuff, you will probably have some specific
questions which one of the others will have to answer.

Hope this helps.

Which model number INRAD filter do I want for 600 HZ roofing in my Omni VI
Plus please ?
Sorry for my ignorance but they list so many, and I want to be sure...

Of course, I could also put the money toward saving up for a nice OMNI VII !
