Good morning, Phil:
I have owned three (3) Jupiters, all three opened up for the MARS system and
they work just fine.
The last two I traded with the factory for a NEW OMNI-7. I just wanted a NEW
radio for a change.
The CW works excellent in the Jupiter as does the OMNI-7.
The ORIGINAL Jupiter with the green screen and original software was just
perfect for me.
I copy code well ( see my bio on QRZ), so I didn't like the code reader in
the BLUE SCREEN VERSION.
And, the BLUE screen didn't offer any benefits that I could see. I would buy
another one if I wanted a back-up radio.
I see them selling used for as low as $550.- now......$700.- is too high . I
would not pay a higher price for a blue screen even though it is newer.

After selling almost all my ham gear in our downsizing move to a smaller
house, I'm looking at getting
a small transceiver for casual use. I have been looking at the Kenwood
TS570D(SG) and the Ten Tec

I would like any input on the Ten Tec Jupiter. I know there were several
versions (grey w/green screen;

was released. But I don't know if there were any differences between the two
versions produced or if
if was strictly "cosmetic"?
I have read the earlier Jupiter had an "unusual" keying note? Not sure what
that means but I operate CW
mostly so this is of concern to me. I realize the Jupiter does not have the
dynamics of Omni VII, but would
like any info on how it performs (overloading) from strong nearby signals.
And any opinions on the quality
of the selectivity, quality of audio, noise blanker/noise reduction
features, etc.
