The OM7's noise blanker originally was useless at eliminating short pulse
noises such as static noise pulses or electronic fence pulses. I believe that
was finally fixed in one of the last firmware updates. Bob can maybe say more
about it.

Thanks Carl and Richie. I went to the shack and turned the Omni VI on and
low and behold there was some impulse noise that sounds like an arc or
electrical fence or sign and the blanker worked when advanced to the right. It
does not attenuate the 75 meter band noise or rapid line noise which is the S5
to S7 ambient noise there this morning. I think it is working on less rapid
impulse noise. I will try the NR DSP button and see if that helps..
I have had this WONDEFUL Omni VI over 20 years and like it more everyday as
compared to my three Icoms and Kenwood TS 2000. It is such an uncomplicated
outstanding piece of gear. Its' simplicity and outstanding receiver are the
greatest. I think I want another one. 73, John, K5PGW
